SUMMARY:WiCyS University of Alberta Student Chapter | Cross Chapter CTF (Student Members Only)
DESCRIPTION:Calling all WiCyS STUDENT Chapters \nWiCyS University of Alberta is planning to host a cross-chapter Capture the Flag (CTF) event in March 2026! Whether your chapter is brand new\, just getting started\, or well-established – everyone is welcome. Our goal is to create a fun\, collaborative\, and inclusive competition that brings together Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) student members from across campuses and the world. \nThe plan is to host the event on CTFd\, running for around 48 hours\, so everyone can participate no matter where they are in the world. There’s very little commitment needed – help spread the word to your members (and\, if you’d like\, organize something local in-person or hybrid). The University of Alberta Student Chapter will handle setting up the CTFd platform and creating challenges\, but we’d love to collaborate if your chapter wants to help with challenges or organization! \nInterested in joining or learning more? Leave a message in the chapter leader discord server\, and we’ll share the link to the Cross-Chapter CTF Discord server. We’d love to have your chapter involved!

SUMMARY:Webinar | The Human Edge: Why Soft Skills Are Your Greatest Cybersecurity Asset in the Age of AI
DESCRIPTION:As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the cybersecurity landscape\, the conversation has largely centered on technical upskilling\, automation\, and keeping pace with rapidly evolving tools. But there’s a critical piece missing from that conversation: the irreplaceable human skills that no algorithm can replicate. \nThis WiCyS webinar\, featuring flare\, explores the growing strategic value of soft skills in cybersecurity\, from communication and critical thinking to community-building and ethical judgment. While AI can accelerate threat detection\, automate workflows\, and process data at scale\, it takes human insight to build trust\, lead teams through a crisis\, navigate ambiguity\, and make sound decisions about when and how AI should be used in the first place. \nWhether you’re early in your cybersecurity journey or a seasoned practitioner\, this session is a reminder that your most powerful skills may be the ones that can’t be automated. \n  \nWiCyS is proud to provide members the opportunity to earn CPE/CEU credits for attending WiCyS Webinars live. To earn CPE/CEU credits with the following providers\, you must meet the minimum requirements: \n\nGIAC/(ISC)2: attend for a minimum of 45 minutes or the entirety of the webinar\nCompTIA: attend for a minimum of 60 minutes or the entirety of the webinar (webinar topic must relate to the certificate being renewed)\n\nAttendees who meet the requirements can log into BrightTALK to print out their attendance certificates to submit for CPE/CEU credits. \nRegister for this webinar and view the recording if you are unable to join live.
