Michelle Finneran Dennedy, Vice President and Chief Privacy Officer, Cisco


Michelle is the VP and Chief Privacy Officer at Cisco and works to raise awareness and create tools that promote privacy, quality, respect, trust, and asset level possibilities for data. She is a unique visionary in both the privacy profession and the information technology industry bringing together multifaceted approaches that not only provide sincere privacy protections, but also drive business value.

Throughout her career, Dennedy has been a leader in security and privacy initiatives ranging from regulatory compliance, privacy engineering, advocacy & education efforts and litigation at McAfee/ Intel Security, Oracle and Sun Microsystems. She is the founder of The iDennedy Project changing how people think about information and data and she is the author of The Privacy Engineer’s Manifesto: Getting from Policy to Code to QA to Value.

Michelle is a highly sought public speaker and she sits on the boards for the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Northern California. She has been recognized with many industry awards to include California’s Most Powerful and Influential Women by the National Diversity Council, Vanguard Award from IAPP, Woman of Influence for Security & Privacy from both EWF & CSO Magazine and most recently was named Woman of the Year in Technology & Transformation by the Stevie American Business Awards.
Dennedy holds a Doctorate of Law (JD) from Fordham University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical, Counseling and Applied Psychology and Economics from Ohio State University.
