As new and established cybersecurity professionals navigate the job market, one thing has become commonplace: the requirement or strong encouragement of possessing certifications, even with entry-level positions. This can cause frustration to those new to the industry that might not be as familiar with the intricacies of the different certifications and accrediting organizations, as well as when a certification might be prudent versus unnecessary. This panel discussion will begin by featuring a brief presentation highlighting the different certifications and an overview of when those certs would be most beneficial. Panel participants will then share what role certifications have played in their careers as both an employee and those in management responsible for hiring new talent. Panelists hope to provide insight into the value of certifications as well as when earning one is most beneficial.
