Sid Sidhu, from Facebook, set to be keynote at Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) conference

Three influential women are set to present keynotes at the next Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) conference, March 12-14, in Aurora, Colorado. One of the presenters is Sid Sidhu, a leader in Production Engineering at Facebook.

Sidhu is presenting “Scaling for the Future.” From her vantage point working at the intersection of Production Engineering and Security at Facebook, she will share some of the challenges and lessons learned in scaling infrastructure, and how they can be applied to security. She believes this transformation is critical for security organizations in the industry to scale for the future. They need to reach the next level through a skillset evolution, a mindset shift, and cultural and organizational change.

At Facebook, Sidhu’s team works on the scalability of infrastructure services with a focus on security. Her role gives her a unique perspective on technical and organizational drivers in scaling infrastructure that can be leveraged to build future security teams. Originally from India, she has called Silicon Valley home for the last 15 years with prior stints at Box, Juniper and Sun Microsystems.

“I’m excited to be a part of WiCyS 2020 – a forum to celebrate the women in cybersecurity and inspire the next generation of leaders. The growing field of cybersecurity is going to afford a lot of opportunities for years to come. As we think about solutions to the upcoming workforce shortage, I am passionate about finding ways to ensure that underrepresented minorities are part of the solution and reach future successes in cybersecurity,” Sidhu said.

The WiCyS conference will bring together more than 1,650 women and allies in cybersecurity from industry, academia, government, nonprofits and research to share their knowledge and expertise while networking and mentoring. The conference is unique as it zeroes in on recruiting, retaining and advancing women in cybersecurity careers.

Journalists are invited to attend and should email [email protected] to request a media pass. For more information on WiCyS or the conference, visit http://www.wicys.org.
