Experience the ultimate tournament event with SANS Skills Quest by NetWars, the latest SANS Cyber Ranges cybersecurity hands-on training solution, designed to enhance and validate skills for cybersecurity roles and levels. Practice existing techniques, develop new tactics, and gain experience in a safe, isolated environment with realistic, replicated networks and systems.

The SANS Skills Quest by NetWars features scenarios continuously updated to reflect the latest threat landscape, ensuring learners engage with current and practical challenges.

This 3-day event will be virtual ONLY from January 20-22, 2026.

The challenge categories may include SIEM/ELK threat hunting, Cyber Threat Intelligence, Python Coding Essentials, Linux Fundamentals, PowerShell Fundamentals, Social Engineering, Regular Expressions, Firewall Fundamentals, Network Scanning and Enumeration. While participation is individual, collaboration is permitted.

The cyber range is hosted on the ranges.io platform and will remain open for 60 hours!

• 1000 WiCyS members
• WiCyS Members committed to fully attending the 3-day virtual SANS Cyber Range
• WiCyS Members with 1- 2 years of post graduate industry experience in early career level

Technical Requirements:

• Suggested Tools: A browser-based Linux virtual machine, Zeek, Snort, ELK, Hashcat, Exiftool, Scapy, Burp Suite, Yafu, Nmap, jq, Docker, and others.
• Computer Requirements:
  • • 8GB of RAM (minimum)
    • Internet-based | Memory: 8GB; Browsers: Any browser tab or in our browser-based virtual machine
    • Optionally, some challenge assets can be downloaded and analyzed locally

WiCyS SANS CYBER RANGE TIMELINE:

December 2: Application opens
December 22: Application closes 11pm CT
January 7 – 9: Acceptance selections are made and commitment form emailed
January 11: Deadline for submission of commitment form by 9pm CT
January 13 – 15: SANS Cyber Range registration details, virtual location details, digital badges emailed
