Student Chapter Guidelines
We want our chapters to succeed. That’s why we outlined guidelines to help you and your peers make the most of your Student Chapter.
Gather together your school’s community of students in cybersecurity! Your efforts can help decrease the gender disparity in the field, while providing support, mentorship, training, networking opportunities and access to industry and academic leaders.
With WiCyS student chapters, you’ll undertake activities to promote recruitment, retention and advancement of women students in cybersecurity. At least one Chapter representative will be awarded a student scholarship to attend the WiCyS Annual Conference to share your Chapter’s experience. Through the annual WiCyS Chapter report, you’ll share information helpful to others about your activities.

Yansi Keim
Purdue University
“Joining WiCyS, particularly Purdue Chapter, facilitated to blossom my leadership skills even after changing continents to pursue doctoral studies. Having been connected to this mentoring cohort of cybersecurity academicians and professionals has only made my vision clearer. Thanks to WiCyS for multiplying my efforts such that no impact seems small now!”

Aimee Reyes
Miami Dade College
“Helming a WiCyS student chapter surfaced the voices of fellow talented BIPOC women I now get to call friends. We cheer for each other loudly! Female peers are running to grab WiCyS board positions now because they see the opportunity to expand their network and get visibility for, ultimately, supporting women on the same journey.”

Marrci Conner
Henry Ford College
“WiCyS represents the awesomeness women bring to the world! Life comes down to doing what you love and living a life that makes you happy. WiCyS allows me to share a little love with fellow cybergeeks.”

Sean Kilfoy
Maryville University
“How incredible of an opportunity it is to support women in cybersecurity! Our student chapter is a strong group of young women who have great drive to gain high visibility both on campus and off. WiCyS women are leaders!“

Reema Moussa
Studying Cybersecurity Law at USC Gould School of Law
“WiCyS is a community of transformative change. Starting a WiCyS student chapter provided me with leadership, management, and communication skills that are vital for anyone looking to solve some of the world’s most complex challenges – crucial for the cybersecurity field especially. I’m so grateful to have found a community of fascinating, intelligent, and innovative friends not just within my chapter, but all over the world through WiCyS.”

Litany Lineberry
5th Year Doctoral Student, Mississippi State University
“Being a part of WiCyS over the years has been very beneficial to me especially since I want to one day work in the cybersecurity field. Attending the WiCyS conference has given me insight into what cybersecurity professionals do on a day-to-day basis. Being involved in the WiCyS student organization at my university has given me a chance to hone my cybersecurity skills through CTFs and cybersecurity activities. I have been fortunate to attend cybersecurity talks hosted by the WiCyS Student Chapter which allowed me to ask questions, that I normally would not get to ask, of cybersecurity professionals currently working in the field. Overall, I feel as though WiCyS is more than just an organization, but a community of like-minded individuals that want to see everyone succeed in cybersecurity!”
