In an increasingly digital world, cyber security is no longer a niche field, it is a National priority. One organisation giving efforts to strengthen this community is the WiCyS Sri Lanka Affiliate, part of the global movement of Women in Cyber-Security (WiCyS).
WiCyS is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to recruiting, retaining, and advancing women in cyber-security. Through mentorship, networking, professional development, and community engagement, the organisation works to bridge gender gaps while creating opportunities for collaboration across the entire industry.
This Friday, February 20, at 6:30 p.m. at BMICH Lavender Hall, the affiliate will host ‘The Cyber Handshake’, an event designed to bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds within the cyber-security space. The event aims to create meaningful conversations between students, early-career professionals, experienced industry experts and organisational leaders.
The event will feature keynote insights, interactive segments, and structured networking opportunities that encourage open dialogue. With cybersecurity threats evolving rapidly across the globe, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing has become more important than ever.
As Sri Lanka continues its digital transformation journey, initiatives like The Cyber Handshake reflect the growing commitment to strengthening the country’s cyber-security capabilities not only through technology, but through its people.
‘The Cyber Handshake’ stands as a reminder that building a secure digital future begins with something simple yet powerful, ‘A Conversation’.
